A boy being killed by partners by accident
Cedric Hsieh Western News Reporter
A boy named Simon, who was trapped on a island was accidentally killed by his friends thinking he was the beast on the island. After a few weeks, the boys were rescued by the navy.
A group of boys, who were on their way for escaping the attack from Wold War II. Their plane crashed because it was attacked, and landed on this deserted island.
The boys were organized in duties on the island, the main duty is to hunt for foods. Simon helped the group in building huts.
According to the boys, they believed that there was a beast on the island. On a stormy night, while the boys were having a feast, they saw a black shadow coming out from the forest. They attacked the thing, and did not realize that the thing was Simon. So they accidentally killed him by thinking he was the beast.
Ralph, who was there while the accident happen, blamed himself for not stopping the accident to happen. "I was there, I should had stop them", said Ralph, who busted into tears.

SUPPLEMENTARY Task VIII
2. Jack and his tribe try to kill Ralph and they burn the whole forest in order to smoke Ralph out of the jungle.
3.Simon's death.
4. Piggy's death.
The most important event I chose is Ralph encounters a naval officer on the beach and the boys get rescued. The main task for the boys on the island is to be rescued. This is the end of the story. The moment when the boys see the naval officer on the beach, hunting, pigs, power, those things are not important any more. The officer says that he is unable to understand how upstanding British lads could have acted with such poor form. The boys realized how evil their behaviors are.Even Ralph, whose life has been saved by the presence of the ship, weeps tears of grief rather than joy. For Ralph, as the other boys, nothing can ever be as it was vefore coming to the island of the Lord of the Flies.

Movie vs Book
Comparing/Contrasting
The last half of the movie was effective in the sense that the overall plot and meaning were the same as the book, even though it lacked some key events that happened in the book. Some of the key events that it missed or changed were; When Simon talked to the 'Lord of the Flies,' (pg. 157, 158, and 159 in the book) this event symbolizes the savagery of Jack (for putting the pigs head on the stick) the very unstable state of Simon's mind (because he thought he was talking to the pigs head) and it also reveals Simon likes the two boys Jack and Ralph. In the movie Simon just stares at the pigs head, which does not show his madness. Another important event that was not in the movie was when Jack flung his spear at Ralph and hit him in the side of the ribs ripping off some flesh (pg. 201 in the book), this symbolizes Jack total transformation into a violent savage. In the movie they replace this with Ralph running away from Jack after Piggy is killed, this is not nearly as effective because it does not show you that Jack hates Ralph a lot and wants to kill him and that Jack has lost his humanity and become a savage. There were also some other parts of the book that were changed or missing in the movie but they are insignificant to the meaning and plot of the story. Overall the Movie was effective because it showed how eventually every boy who was on the island was with Jacks tribe (Piggy was murdered by Jacks tribe and Sam and Erik were captured) except Ralph. Jacks tribe hunted Ralph (a reference is on pg.209), and when rescue came the boys realized how dark and violent humanity was. >Nick<
News Report on Simon's death (Article A)
A boy was killed because the savage of human
Cedric Hsieh Daily Mercury Reporter
During World War Two, a group of British boys were in a plane accident, and crashed in an unmanned island. While they were having a feast, they accidentally killed their companion by thinking he was the beast they were afraid of.
One of the boys, named Piggy said, “It was dark. There was that- that bloody dance. There was lighting and thunder and rain. We was scared!"
According to Piggy, Simon was a different boy comparing to the others. "Coming in the dark-he had no business crawling like that out of the dark. He was batty. He asked for it." said Piggy with furry in his eyes.
The boys who killed Simon didn't notice what they had attacked during the feast. They just want violence and fun on the island. The boys lost their minds and their ability to maintain civilization just in a few weeks. This event shows the concern towards the future of our society.

Ritual dances
The ritual dance in Chapter 9 did not seem too fulfill any function except make every one excited and bloodthirsty. I think that it got out of hand because the boys were over excited and bloodthirsty so they mistook Simon for a beast and killed him. People did not stop the dance because they were excited and bloodthirsty beyound reason and probably did not care if Simon was a beast or not.
Four ritual activities that I do are; making my bed, brushing my teeth, taking out the garbage, and cleaning the dishes off the table.
I think brushing my teeth is the most important ritual. If you do not brush your teeth they will get rotten break, and fall out. Also if you have clean teeth it makes you look more approachable then if you don't. >Nick<
